Guttenberg: Funeral services for Norman H. Treusdell, postmaster and prominent business man of Turkey River, were held at the Masonic Temple in Guttenberg on Sunday afternoon, with interment in the cemetery here. The funeral was largely attended by relatives and friends from far and near, which showed that deceased was held in high regard by all who knew him.
Mr. Treusdell was born on a farm in Millville township, Clayton county, Iowa, March 23, 1863, a son of Daniel and Anna Jane Treusdell, pioneer residents of Clayton county. He grew to young manhood on the farm, and the greater part of his ambitious life was spent there.
He had been successfully engaged in the mercantile business for 20 years, and also was postmaster at Turkey River for a number of years. For a time he lived at Charles City. For 17 years he was employed by the Milwaukee railroad company at Turkey River. On April 24, 1884, he was married to Miss Josephine White. Mr. Treusdell had been ill for some time previous to his death. He died at the University hospital at Iowa City Wednesday afternoon of last week, where he had been receiving treatment. He had reached the age of 71 years, 11 months and 13 days. Soon after his death the body was brought to his home at Turkey River. Mr. Treusdell was a member of the Masonic lodge at Guttenberg, and of the Masonic Consistory at Clinton.
He is survived by his widow and six sisters, Mrs. Lillian Tindell of Millville, Mrs. Elizabeth McKinley of Carter, Mont., Mrs. Mary Steele of Faulkton, S.D., Mrs. Anna White of Pulallup, Wash., Mrs. Sadie Chalus of Davenport, and Mrs. Emma Clark of West Union, and many other relatives and friends by whom he will be sadly missed. Mr. Treusdell was a man who stood for justice and righteousness at all times. He was ever ready with heart and hand to help the needy. To know him was to like and respect him. His memories will be forever cherished by all who knew him.
