Friends are very sorry to hear of the death of Asher Swisher, which occurred at his home Saturday afternoon. He had been ailing for some time and on Wednesday evening he had a stroke from which he never regained consciousness. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon.
James Asher Swisher was born July 16, 1876, on the home farm near Garber. He passed away on February 23, 1935,, at the age of 58 years, seven months and seven days. He was the eldest of a family of six children of Wm. G. and Mary Rosella Swisher. He grew to manhood in that locality and was married to Minnie Delila Hansel Oct. 16, 1901.
To this union two children were born, Carl Leo and Howard Leroy. Howard preceded his father to the Great Beyond on Feb. 7, 1922, and one sister, Mrs. Hannah Scrivens, in 1915.
Mr. Swisher is survived by his wife and son Carl and his aged mother, besides two brothers, William, of Edgewood, and Lafey, of Zion City, Ill., and two sisters, Mrs. Rhoda Coates, of Sparta, Mich., and Mrs. Sylvia Noggle, of Milwaukee, Wis., and a daughter-in-law and three grandchildren, Eldon Ray, Gerald Owen and Shirley Phydalia Swisher.
The pallbearers were the neighbors, Watson Gull, Doyle Oldham, Palmer Hansel, Frank Bush, Sam Barnhart and John Gull.
