Monona - Funeral services for Mrs. Charles Monty, aged 97, Monona's eldest resident were held at two o'clock Sunday afternoon from the local funeral home, the Rev. Louis H. Joslin, pastor of the First Methodist church officiated and said the prayers in the city cemetery where she was buried beside her husband.

Surviving Mrs. Monty are six children, Mrs. Robert Love of St. Paul; Mrs. Joseph Quillen of St. Cloud, Minn.; Mrs. Harry E. Pomeroy of Monona; Frank Monty of LaCrosse, Wis.; William Monty of St. Paul and Charles Monty of Minneapolis.

Mrs. Monty has been a resident of this community seventy-five years, and fifteen years were spent in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Pomeroy. She was active until a few days before her death. Seldom does a woman have the good fortune to have good health as long as Mrs. Monty, which is attributed to her wise living and hard work, during her early life with plenty of sleep and sensible living. Her children and neighbors will miss her.

Pallbearers were Alfred Kishman, Isaac Russell, Gustav Strelow and Charley Doerring.
