John S. Lane, 1815-1890

John S. Lane died at his home in Highland, Saturday, November 8th, 1890, of strangulated hernia, at the mature age of 75 years. He was one of the pioneers of Clayton county, having come here over 36 years ago. He leaves a wife and several children to mourn their loss. The funeral services were held at the Cox Creek Catholic church, and were conducted by Rev. Father Rowe, of Strawberry Point.
