Otto Germar, son of Henry and Theresa Germar, was born Jan. 28, 1870, at Guttenberg, Iowa, and died at his home in Volga July 31, 1949, at the age of 79 years, 6 months and 3 days.

Mr. Germar was a graduate of Bayless Business college, Dubuque. He spent most of his life in Volga, where he was a carpenter, lumber dealer, and for 12 years postmaster.

He was married to Valeria Green in 1902. To this union were born five children, of whom two sons and one daughter preceded him in death.

He leaves to mourn his death his wife, one son, Norbert Germar of Volga; one daughter, Mrs. Russell (Leota) Peterson, Logan, Utah; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, besides other relatives and friends.

Services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist church with the pastor, the Rev. Leslie J. Faris, in charge.

Casket bearers were: Wm. Christeleit, Delos Crain, Walter Everitt, John Follon, Joe Chapman and Fred Rinkert. Burial was in Hill Crest cemetery, Volga.
