Funeral services for Del Rayment, 73, of Garnavillo, who died July 6, were held at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church in Garnavillo July 9 at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Alexander Meyer officiated.
Mr. Rayment had been in ill health for the past four years. He suffered a heart attack July 4th and failed to recover. He had reached the age of 73 years, 8 months and 11 days.
He was born Oct. 25, 1875, at Eau Claire, Wis., the son of Wm. and Margaret Rayment. He attended rural school, and assisted his parents on the farm until he was 18 years old. At that time he came to Iowa and worked as a farm hand on various farms around the county. He was baptized and confirmed on April 8, 1917, in St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church at Farmersburg by the Rev. G. F. Braun.
On Feb. 27, 1902, he was married to Mary Rantzow of Clayton. The couple first rented the Anna Pahlas farm near St. Olaf and operated it for 12 years. In 1912 they purchased the adjoining Fred Pahlas farm where they lived until 1945 when they retired and moved to the home they had purchased in Garnavillo. They had two children.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Rayment; one daughter, Mrs. Elmer Schmalfeld of St. Olaf; and one son, Rueben Rayment of McGregor; six sisters, one brother, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
