Hans L. Olson, son of the late Gunil and Levor Olson, was born on a farm in Wagner township Nov. 12, 1865, and died in Elkader Friday morning, July 8, at the age of 83 years and 8 months. He was baptized Dec. 10, 1865, and confirmed Oct. 10, 1880, in the Norway Lutheran church. He was married to Albertina Peterson. One son, Lawrence, was born to them.
Mr. Olson lived in Clayton county almost all his life and the past few years had made his home in Elkader. He was one of 13 children and was preceded in death by five brothers, Ole, Lars, Nels, Theodore and Gilbert, and four sisters, Annie, Mary, Julia and Lena.
He is survived by his son Lawrence of Eau Claire, Wis., three granddaughters and two great-grandsons; one sister, Mrs. Wm. Carney of St. Olaf; two brothers, Knut of St. Olaf and Willie of Ruthven; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Services were held from the Witt funeral home to the Norway Lutheran church and burial was at the Norway cemetery. The Rev. S. J. Strandjord officiated at the services. Pallbearers were Eldo Meyer, Ole Embretson, John Rugland, Gottfried Herman, Theodore Wold, and Harrison Wold.
Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Olson, Eau Claire, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Olson and son Gaylord, Phelps, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Geser and son Richard, Sherburn, Minn.; and Mr. and Mrs.
Lolen Geser, Austin, Minn.A Card of Thanks was signed by Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Olson, Susie Carney, and Mr. and Mrs. Knute Olson.
