Funeral services for August Morarend, 78, were held at the Tuecke funeral chapel in Guttenberg Monday afternoon, March 21. Burial was in the city cemetery. The Rev. W. F. Domres officiated.
Mr. Morarend died at his farm home between Guttenberg and Garnavillo at 5:30 Friday afternoon, March 18, after an illness of four years. He had been bedridden for only about four weeks.
Survivors include his wife, the former Martha Aulwes; two sons, Clarence of Garnavillo and Glendor at home; and a daughter, Mrs. Ora (Leona) Duwe, Guttenberg; besides two brothers, Henry and John Morarend of Osdterdock, and four sisters, Mrs. Clara Burr, Stratford, Wis., Mrs. P. A. Noack and Mrs. John R. Moser, Guttenberg, and Mrs. Robert Hansel, Garber. Six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Dietrich and Dorothea Schroeder Morarend, a brother William, and a sister, Ida.
