Elkader Register, Thur., 6 Nov. 1924. Garber column.

At his home in Volga township occurred the death of Chris Lau on Friday night Oct. 31. Cause of death being cancer of the throat. He was born and raised in Volga township and spent most of his life here except a few years he lived at Klemme, Iowa. His age being 58 years. He leaves surviving his wife, seven sons and one daughter, besides a host of relatives and friends. Funeral was held from his late home and burial at Garnavillo Monday afternoon. The funeral was one of the largest ever held in this vicinity.
