Jacob Marxer, on the early settlers at Communia, died on Friday morning of last week, October 3rd, 1890, after a long sickness.
Deceased was a native of Schellenberg, Germany, where he was born July 14th, 1828, consequently he was 62 years, 2 months and 19 days of age.
He came to the United States early in the Fifties’ and located in Dubuque county, where he was married. Some thirty years ago he came to Communia, where he has since resided, honored and respected by all who knew him.
He leaves an aged wife and eight children to mourn the loss of a loved companion and kind father. Besides the family there are many warm friends who will mourn his death.
The funeral took place on Sunday last, and was largely attended. Peter Klink spoke a few words of tribute to his departed friend at the house, and George Muegge delivered an eloquent oration at the grave. The Elkader Gesang-verein was present and sang several songs.
