Elkader Register, Thur., 7 Aug. 1924.

At his home in Osborne, July 22, occurred the death of Peter Debes, a resident of this vicinity for many years. He was born in Norway in 1839, immigrating to this country in 1868. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Watkins, who preceded him in death several years ago. He is survived by seven children, James, Albert, Gregor, Clinton, and Mrs. L. A. Carpenter of Strawberry Point; Arthur of Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. S. Martin of Turkey River, Ia.; and Lillie at home. He also leaves twenty grandchildren. His funeral was held at the home on Friday, July 25, services being conducted by Rev. Frizell of the M.E. church of Strawberry Point. Interment was made in the family lot in Mederville.

(Note: Presented as published. The article says he is survived by seven children but names eight.)
