Joseph Nugent Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Nugent of this place, passed away at the family home Monday evening shortly after six o'clock at the age of 23 years, 9 months and 9 days. He had been subject of heart trouble for the past several years and this was the cause of his sudden death. He is survived by his parents, three sisters and two brothers. Funeral services were held Wednesday forenoon at 10:00 o'clock at St. Joseph's church. Interment in St. Joseph's cemetery. Our sympathy goes out to the sorrowing family.

Joseph John Nugent, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Nugent, died Monday evening July 7, about 7:30 o'clock at home. Death occurred suddenly and was due to heart trouble. He was born in Read Township on Nov. 28, 1900, and at the time of his death his age was 23 years, 7 months and 9 days. In his early childhood he attended St. Joseph's School, also the Elkader High School. He always worked around Elkader, until about 2 years ago he went to Dubuque where he found employment. He remained there until about 2 weeks ago when he came home. Joe had suffered from heart trouble for a number of years, but he never would complain, always kept his troubles to himself. He was a most exemplary young man, honored and esteemed by all who knew him. Deceased is survived by his father and mother; two brothers, Leo of Dubuque and Walter at home; three sisters, Sister M. Magdalen, now in Dubuque, Anne and Helen at home. Besides many relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held last Wednesday at St. Joseph's church, Rev. Father Taken officiating and interment made in St. Joseph's cemetery.
The pall bearers were: Edward and James Connell, Norbert and Leo Niemeyer, Walter Bink and John Wernimont.
