Elkader Register, Thur., 5 June 1924. Strawberry Point column.

The funeral of C. Truman was held at the home of his niece, Mrs. Mabel Carpenter, last Friday. He was a Grand Army Veteran and he has fought his fight. Interment took place in the Cox Creek cemetery.

Note: burial in Ross cemetery, Sperry twp.
The Clayton Co. Death Certificate Index gives dates: 6/2/1840-5/28/1924. Regiment on gravestone is difficult to read, looks like Co. E, 9th IA Inf.
