Will Kurth, aged nearly 21 years, was drowned in Roberts Creek near St. Olaf yesterday while fishing. The young man was employed by Mrs. Chas. Engelhardt and was fishing in the creek which ran through her field.

The accident happened when he tried to land a fish while he was hanging onto a root or limb, which gave way and sent him into the water headfirst. He disappeared and never came to the surface again, the water, at that place, being about fourteen feet deep.

Dr. McGrath was called but the body, having been in the water over an hour when it was recovered, was beyond resuscitation.

The young man's parents live at Monona and he has a sister living near this city, Mrs. Henry Klinkenberg, besides many other relatives and friends who have the sympathy of all in their great sorrow.

~Register and Argus, Thursday April 22, 1915

Note: Burial is in the Monona City cemetery beside his parents William & Lena (Schroeder) Kurth
