Elkader Register, Thur., 14 Feb. 1924.
Mrs. C. D. Vittetoe passed away at her home at this place on Tuesday February 12th at 3:30 p.m. She entered the valley of the shadow on Monday February 4th, when a serious operation was necessary for the birth of a son who was not for this world. She rallied from the operation and was thought to be on the road to recovery but it was God's will that she accompany her little one.
Maud Jeanette Culver was born at Clear Lake, Iowa, September 23, 1891, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Culver. She grew to womanhood there and on May 25, 1920, was united in marriage to Cleveland D. Vittetoe of Elkader.
Besides her grief stricken husband and two step-children, she is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Culver, and one sister, Mrs. Faith Monaghen.
Funeral services were held this afternoon (Thursday) 2:00 o'clock at the home, with burial in the East Side cemetery, Rev. W. J. Warner officiating.
Mrs. Vittetoe was a kind and devoted wife and friend. She lived a truly Christian life. Her passing away is deeply regretted and those who sorrow have the sympathy of the entire community.
