Elkader Register, Thur., 17 Jan. 1924. Volga City Views column.

It is with sincere regret that we are called upon this week to chronicle the death of Mrs. M. J. Conboy who passed away at her home in Volga City Saturday evening January 5th at about 4:50 p.m. While it was quite generally known for the past several months that Mrs. Conboy was suffering from a malady from which there was no possible relief, the news of her death caused profound sorrow among her large circle of friends and acquaintances in the community who loved and admired her.

Anna Agnes Glennon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Glennon, was born April 15th, 1874, at Cox Creek, Iowa. She was a graduate of Elkader High School and was a successful teacher for a number of years.

On April 30th, 1901, she was united in marriage to M. J. Conboy at Sacred Heart Church, Cox Creek, Iowa.

Mrs. Conboy was a faithful member of the Catholic Church and was a devout Christian. She was an ideal wife and mother and loved her home and family. The companionship of the home and family fireside were her greatest pleasures in life. She was ever kind and gentle to those whom she came in contact, and always had a willing and helpful hand for the unfortunates. By her abiding faith and gentleness she endeavored herself with a large following of friends and her death will be sincerely mourned by all.

Surviving are her bereaved husband; three children, Marie, Zita and William; one sister, May; six brothers, John, Patrick, Pete, William, all of Volga City, James of Rochester, Minn., and Timothy of Strawberry Point, Iowa.

The funeral was held Tuesday morning January 8th from the family home with services at Sacred Heart Church at 10:30 o'clock. Rev. Father Hetherington was celebrant of a Solemn High Mass of requiem.

The pallbearers were James, Peter, and Timothy Glennon, Earl, Frank and John Conboy.

Rev. Father Hetherington gave the final blessing at the grave, and interment was made in the Catholic cemetery at Volga City, Iowa.

May her Soul rest in peace.
