Strawberry Point - Funeral services for August Frederick Gipper, 63, will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran church in Strawberry Point Thursday at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. S. J. Meyer will officiate and burial will be in Strawberry Point cemetery.
Mr. Gipper was born in Clayton county on June 5, 1893, the son of Henry and Mary Portz Gipper. He received his education at the Hawkeye public school and served overseas in World War I as a company mechanic in the army.
On Feb. 2, 1921, he was married to Louise Hilligardt. The couple farmed in the Strawberry Point area until about five years ago when they retired and moved to Waterloo.
Mr. Gipper died unexpectedly of a heart attack about 1:30 p.m. Sunday at his home at 1400 Grant Avenue in Waterloo.
Survivors include his wife; two sisters, Mrs. Amelia Rebaschus of Strawberry Point and Mrs. Ed (Emma)Selck of Tripoli; and a brother, Henry, of Strawberry Point.
