Elkader Register, Thur., 23 Apr. 1891.

On April 7th, Frederick Buckman, one of the early settlers of Read township, passed from this life, having attained the ripe old age of 79 years. He was a native of Hanover, Germany, and came to the United States when 28 years of age. He first located in Indiana, where he resided for fifteen years. In 1854 he came to Clayton county, locating in Read township. A wife, four sons and two daughters are left to mourn his death.
