His health has been gradually failing the past two years, but it was only recently that he became confined to his home and his bed. Mr. Schutte was married twice, his first wife dying some time after their marriage. In March, 1880 [sic], he was united in marriage to Miss Minnie Walke and to them three sons were born, who are Ben, Elmer and Oliver, whom together with Mertie, a daughter by his first wife, with his widow survive, as also his mother, Mrs. Eliza Schutte, who resides here, and one sister, Mrs. Amelia Adam [Adams], of Dubuque, who with her husband and children, was in attendance at the funeral.
