Died - Tuesday, Oct. 16th, 1900, of heart failure, Magdalena Schecker, wife of Charles Schecker. No death for many years has cast such a gloom over the people of our town or has made so many hearts ache as the death of this noble, self-sacrificing and beloved Auntie Schecker. Every mother and child in Elkport feels the ache of sorrow at the death of this good, benevolent friend who has passed to the shore beyond. Words cannot express our sorrow at the death of this one of the best and kindest woman that God ever gave the breath of life.
"Mrs. Schecker is dead!" were the words that cast a gloom over our community. Only sick but a few short hours and all that family, friends and physician could do was of no avail, a quiet, peaceful passing away, just such a death that was suitable to one of God's own beloved women.
Mrs. Schecker was born in Germany in 1826, and came to this country at an early date. The funeral takes place Friday, at 10 o'clock, Rev. Fritschel officiating. The bereaved family have the sympathy of all in their sad affliction.
