Anna Maria Hollbrueger was born Feb. 6th, 1824, in Westphalen, Prussia, Germany, and died Nov. 10th, 1906, in Volga twp. In 1848 she became the wife of William Graeman. Seven years later the family emigrated to this country and engaged in farming in Jefferson twp. and since 1859 they have lived on a farm in Volga twp. Mr. Graeman died January 15th, 1897. The aged parents are survived by all their children, vis., Maria, married to Herman Oelker, residing near Sheffield, in Franklin Co.; William to Dora Lau at Garner, Hancock Co.; Frederick to Dena Katter, also of Hancock Co.; Louisa to John Harnack, near Remsen, Plymouth Co.; Henry to Marie Kruse, of Sheffield, Iowa; Anna to Wm. Ketter, near Garner, Iowa; John to Minna Dettman, of Sheffield, Iowa; Catherine to Aug. Obermeller, in Farmersburg twp.; and Herman, unmarried, living on the home farm. Fifty-eight grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Graeman possessed a very strong constitution, was seldom ill and though eighty-two years of age she performed all the household duties until a week before her death. She was a Christian mother and her many kind deeds and thoughtfulness of others will cause her memory to be long cherished. The funeral services occurred in St. Peter's Lutheran church Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Mall. Interment in the Garnavillo new cemetery.
