Elkader Register, Thur., 11 Oct. 1906. St. Olaf column.
Bernice Violetta Larson was born Jan. 10th, 190_ (looks like 1 or 4), and died at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ole Johnson, living west of town, Monday evening, October 1st, 1906. Bernice Violetta was the eldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Larson and at the time of her death was staying with her grandparents. She was sick but a few days, but suffered more than tongue can tell until the angel of death hovered around, and bore her away on its white wing of love, to the happy world above where pain and suffering are no more. She was a loving and beautiful child and was loved by all who knew or saw her. Everything that medical skill could preform or loving care could suggest was done to restore her, but the appointed hour had come and the young spirit passed through the valley of death.
Funeral services were held at the house at one o'clock Wednesday afternoon, where sorrowing friends assisted the relatives in the last rites, and she was laid to rest in the Norway cemetery in a grave beautifully lined with white and decorated with flowers.
(Note: There followed a lengthy poem. Also, her gravestone photo on the IGPP shows a birth year of 1903.)
