Lifelong Resident of Community Died on Saturday

Funeral services were held on Tuesday morning at St. Mary’s church for Frank C. Saeugling, 82, who died Saturday at Riverview hospital following a long illness. The services were in charge of Rev. Louis Grunewald and burial was in the Guttenberg City cemetery in charge of the Tuecke funeral home.

Pallbearers for the services were four grandsons, Joe, Robert, Donald and Harold Saeugling, Jr.

A native of Guttenberg, Mr. Saeugling was born November 26, 1866, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Saeugling. Throughout his life until ill health prevented his working, he had been a plumber and tinsmith.

Mr. Saeugling is survived by two sons, Realto Saeugling of Cedar Rapids and Harold Saeugling of Dubuque, and 17 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Ed V. Huene of Guttenberg with whom he had made his home for many years, and Mrs. Amelia Esser of East Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Katie, and a daughter, Selma, who died in 1950, as well as by three brothers, John, Henry and Fred.
