Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 9, 1960, for Dwight C. Newcomb at the Schultz funeral home at 2 p.m. with the Rev. C.W. Ellerbeck officiating and the I.O.O.F. lodge in charge of a special service.
Dwight C. Newcomb, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Newcomb, was born February 17, 1873, and died November 7, 1960.
He moved with his family to Monona from Leyden, Mass., in 1896 and completed his education in the Monona schools.
He was married to the former Mary D. Howe and settled on the farm of her parents, where he continued to live until a few days before his death.
Although he was not an official member of any church, the Pilgrim Evangelical United Brethren Church mourns the loss of a faithful friend who realized his stewardship and loyalty to his God.
He was a loyal member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge in Monona, and was faithful in attendance until the past few years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; six sisters; five sons; one daughter and his wife.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Austin and Mary Newcomb, and a number of distant relatives and friends.
