Elkader Register, Thur., 27 Sept. 1906. Garnavillo column.
George, the only child of John Albers and wife, nee Margaretha Ohlhorn, was born Nov. 12th, 1856, in Zetol, Oldenburg, Germany. At the age of seven he emigrated with his parents to this country and they took up their abode in the vicinity of Garnavillo. In 1871 he was confirmed by Rev. Erbens in St. Paul's Lutheran church. Ever since his twelfth year he has been subject to epileptic attacks. He was seized with one suddenly Sunday evening, but on Monday was able to be around again. About eight o'clock that evening he retired and half an hour latter another attack came upon him, which proved to be fatal, and thus ended his earthly pilgrimage at the age of 49 years, 10 months and 12 days. The aged mother is the only surviving member of the family, the father having died in 1884 on the eleventh of November.
Funeral services took place Wednesday afternoon at one o'clock, at the house and from there the concourse proceeded to the church where Rev. K. W. Braun spoke impressively on the text found in Luke 7.11-15, and beautifully compared the present mourner with the widowed mother of Nain.
The mortal remains were laid tenderly to rest in the new cemetery. The coffin was entirely covered with flowers, a fitting token of respect to the departed and sympathy for the bereaved mother.
