Monona - Funeral services for Mrs. Gustave (Antoinette) Tornowske, 78, were held Monday afternoon, October 10, at 1:30 p.m. at Pilgrim Evangelical United Brethren Church, Monona, with pastor J.W. Peterson officiating.
The body lay in state at the church from 12 noon until the time of services. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery with the Northern Clayton County Garden Club members as honorary escort.
Mrs. Tornowske died October 7, at the Community Hospital, Postville, having been there for some time.
Antoinette Tornowske was born the daughter of Anton and Mary Hammes Karbosh on January 17, 1888*, at Milwaukee, Wis. She was united in marriage to Gustave A. Tornowske on March 21, 1917, at Madison, Wis. To this union was born one son, Robert, of Cassville, Wis.
Her husband died December 11, 1947. She resided in Monona until her death October 7, 1966.
Mrs. Tornowski was a member of the Pilgrim E.U. B. Church. For many years she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Women's Relief Corps and was secretary-treasurer of the Monona Library Board.
Her parents, husband, four brothers and one sister preceded her in death. Surviving is one son Robert, Cassville, Wis., two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Nieman, Delavan, Wis. and Mrs. Helen Maletzke, Milwaukee; two grandchildren, Tony and Therese, and five nieces and four nephews.
Music at the services was provided by a duet by Mrs. Wallace Marting and David Schlitter, with Mrs. Justus Kammerer as organist.
Pallbearers were Fred Hass, Joe Donlon, Henry Coobs, George Heins, Irving Schierholz, Joseph Mista, Carlyle Kirkeberg and George Balckos.
