Elkader Register, Thur., 30 Aug. 1906. Littleport column.
Friday, Aug. 24th, the angel of death visited the home of Aug. Meier and wife, of Communia, and took from them their beloved son, Zwingly. He was born Mar. 8, 1906. The cause of his death was brain fever. The funeral was held Sunday, and the remains were laid to rest in the Littleport cemetery, Rev. Hertel officiating. The pall bearers were Henry Schroeder, Joe Downey, Leo Phalen and Geo. Downey.
The little crib is empty now.
The little clothes laid by.
A mother's hope, a father's joy
In death's cold arms doth lie.
Go little pilgrim to the home
On yonder blissful shore.
We miss thee here, but soon will come
Where thou hast gone before.
But oh' a brighter home than ours
In heaven is now his own.
