A. Rodenberg Buried Here On Thursday
_______August Rodenberg, aged 74, a lifelong resident of Clayton county died at his home in Guttenberg late Sunday evening after an illness of several months. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at two o’clock at St. Paul’s Lutheran church with burial in City cemetery. Rev. C. A. Jacobi officiated at both church and grave.
Mr. Rodenberg was born on a farm in Jefferson township on April 11, 1866, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Rodenberg. He grew to manhood on the home farm and attended rural school. He was confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran church by Rev. Turner when a youth. Later he moved to a farm in Clayton township and in 1900 retired and came to Guttenberg where he has made his home since. Six children survive him. They are Mrs. Anna Andregg [Anderegg], Mrs. Margaret Neubauer, Mrs. Syvlia Schnieder and John W., of Guttenberg, Mrs. Emma Hyde of Strawberry Point and Oliver of Davenport, Iowa. There are also two grandchildren, two brothers, William of Guttenberg and John of Jefferson township, and six sisters, Mrs. Henry Friedlein of Guttenberg, Mrs. Henry Morarend of Jefferson township, Mrs. John Schorg of Spencer, S. D., Mrs. Anna Henderson of Gemmell, Minn., Mrs. Katherine Schwann of San Jose, Calif., and Mrs. Lizzie Wills of Santa Clara, Calif.
