Elkader Argus, Wed., 4 Sept. 1901.
At St. Olaf Saturday evening about five o'clock occurred a frightful accident from which resulted the death of Edwin, little son of Mr. and Mrs. Embret Embretson.
The little fellow, who was three years and four months old, was playing about the house and fell backwards into a pail of hot water which was being used for scrubbing. The pail upset and the body of the unfortunate boy was terribly scalded. Death relieved him from pain early Sunday morning.
Funeral services were held at the Norway church in Wagner twp., on Monday afternoon, Rev. Tonnar officiating. The friends of the family sympathize with them in this terrible affliction.

Scalded to Death.
West Union Argo:— H. O. Johnson informs us of a horrible accident that befell Edwin, the three and a half year old son of E. Embretson, at St. Olaf, last Saturday, about 4 o’clock in the afternoon. It seems that the boy stumbled backwards into a pail of scalding water, and the water went all over him, causing his death about eighteen hours later. The funeral services were held at St. Olaf, Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The sympathy of all will surely go out to the bereaved parents.Transcriber’s Note: Iowa Gravestone Photo Project shows he is buried in the Norway Lutheran Church Cemetery and was born April 19, 1898 and died Sept 1, 1901.
