Donna Beth James

Donna Beth James of Monona, died Oct. 6 at Prairie du Chien Hospital.

She was born Dec. 18, 1929 in Anamosa to Albert and Alma Patterson Aitchison. She was baptized and confirmed in the Presbyterian faith in Cascade where she grew up.

She graduated from Monticello High School in 1948. In 1952, she graduated from the University of Dubuque with a bachelor of Arts and Music degree.

Aug. 2, 1952 she married Alan Thomas James at the University of Dubuque Chapel. They had 3 children. The couple lived in Colo, IA for 3 years were Donna taught. In 1955 they moved to Monona.

She was a member of Garden City United Methodist Church, where she served on the building committee, United Methodist Women Library Board and Federated Women's Club. She was a member of the United Methodist district building committee. She directed the church choir for 31 years and accompanied over 1200 musical students.

She is survived by her husband, Tom; 2 sons, Greg, West Union and Tim, Waterloo; one daughter, Elizabeth, Des Moines and 2 granddaughters, Katie and Sarah.

A private Commital Service was held at Schultz's Funeral Home and Monona City Cemetery at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, 1987. A Memorial Service followed at 1:30 p.m. at Garden City United Methodist Church, Monona. Rev. Marion Bloodworth officiated. Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona, was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Harold Joe James, Adrian Aitchison, Bruce James, Rev. Vincent James, John Wachter, Fremont Ogle, Bill Possehl, Roger Swanson and Ellsworth James.
