St. Olaf: Lars Embretson, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ole Embretson, of near St. Olaf, was interred in the Norway cemetery last week Tuesday. Funeral services were at 1:45 p.m., at the old homestead near St. Olaf, and at 2:00 at the Norway church, with Rev. Strandjord officiating. Pallbearers were nephews: Waldow Embretson, Edwin Embretson, Philemon Embretson, Orvin Embretson, Lorando Embretson, (last name is unreadable).
Mr. Embretson died Sept. 16 at the home of his niece, Mrs. George Mumm, of Pendleton, Ore.
Lars Embretson was born May 16, 1865, near St. Olaf, Iowa, on the farm which is now known as the Mrs. Belle Embretson farm. At the age of 21 he left home and went west. Most of his early life was spent in mining and prospecting. Later he spent his time cattle ranching, until his retirement 25 years ago, still making his home in the country near the town of Kalispell, Mont.
Mr. Embretson never married and spent most of his life alone, coming home occasionally to spend a short time visiting with friends and relatives. Before he left he was confirmed and a member of the Norway Lutheran church.
Out of a family of ten children, those preceding him in death are Embert, Lars who died in infancy, Annie, Knute, Mrs. Jake Larson, Henry and Otto, along with his father and Mother.
Those who mourn his death are one sister, Mrs. L. W. Larson, of Fosston, Minn.; Louis Embretson of St. Olaf; Mrs. Knute Embretson and Jake Larson, of Florida; Mrs. Belle Embretson, Mrs. Otto Embretson and Mrs. E. Embretson, of this vicinity, along with nine nephews, 13 nieces and a host of other relatives and friends.
