Elkader Register, Thur., 15 and 22 Feb. 1906. Elkport and Vicinity columns.

John Jaster, aged 86 years, died at his home in Elkport, Monday. The deceased has been a resident of Volga twp. for the past forty years and was greatly respected. The funeral took place Thursday, Rev. Hertel officiated.

John Jaster, a pioneer resident of Elkport and Clayton county, is dead, aged 86 years. The funeral Thursday was held from the Lutheran church, Rev. Hertel officiating.

John Jaster was born in Germany in 1820 and emigrated to America in 1851, settling on a farm in Volga township, where he lived until about five years ago, when he moved to Elkport to retire. He was married in 1851 to Lena Fritz, who, with six children survive him.
