Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, March 7, for Fred Koehn, at 2 p.m.,, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. R. E. Langholz officiating. The body lay in state at the church from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial was in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.
Mr. Koehn was killed instantly Thursday morning, March 5, at about 9:45 when a tree limb fell on him while he was working with a logging crew about five miles north of Monona.
Mr. Koehn was born a son of Ferdinand and Louise Koehn, May 2, 1902, near Clayton. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garnavillo. He received his education in that community. He worked with his father in the logging business, a work which he made his career.
He was married to Henrietta Schultz, March 4, 1931. They made their home in Guttenberg where they lived until they moved to Monona in 1952.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and six brothers.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (LaVonne) Duwe, and Mrs. Keith (Fern) Mohs, Monona, and Mrs. Lamoine (Bonnie) Wentz, Luana; two sons, Jerald and Richard, Monona; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Schierholz, Clayton, and Mrs. George (Louise) Ferguson, Rockford, Ill.; three brothers, Walter and Albert, McGregor, and Verni, Guttenberg; and four grandchildren.
