Strawberry Point- Services for Leon Joseph Olinger, 60, will be from the Gill Funeral Home to St. Mary's Church here at 10 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Robert Palen, pastor, and the Rev. Julius J. Olinger of New Hampton, a brother, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Mr. Olinger died of cancer at 4 a.m. Friday in his home here. He was born Feb. 11, 1896, near Strawberry Point, a son of Adam and Rose Tinker Olinger. He married Kathryn Anton who died April 27, 1940. On Aug. 22, 1941, he married her sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Hansen.
He was a member of the Catholic church and the Knights of Columbus, and a veteran of World War I.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Sister Dominic Marie of Racine, Wis., and Mrs. J. G. (Loretta) Swift of Mason City, Ia.; a son, Bernard of Strawberry Point; a sister, Sister Marie Francis of Detroit; four brothers, Glen and Paul of Strawberry Point, the Rev. Julius J. of New Hampton and Valmah of San Leandro, Calif., and his mother of Dubuque.
The Rosary will be recited at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
