Elkader Register, Fri., 7 Sept. 1883. Home News column.

Mrs. Schultz, an inmate of the county poor house, died Wednesday evening, at the advanced age of 86 years. She was formerly a resident of Cox Creek township.

Note added by S. Ferrall 12/3/16:
Found w/various surname spellings: Christiana Shultz, widow, born ca1797 Prussia, who was enunmerated in the 1860 & 1870 census, Cox Creek twp. Living with Frank Shultz, a widower. No relationship was given on either census. The 1880 census shows Christiana & Frank living in the Giard twp. household of Ernst Sheffert. She is a servant and Frank a farm laborer. Both are marked as married on the 1880. Clayton County Death Records, Book 1 pg 33, indicate burial was in the Clayton Center cemetery.
