This obituary appears in the Strawberry Point column, in the 18 Jan. 1917 edition of the Elkader Register & Argus. As follows:

Louise Fredericka Christiana Hagge, daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Hagge, was born in Mecklenburg, Germany, May 19th, 1856. She was confirmed and baptized in the Lutheran church. On October 14, 1881, she was married to Chris Warning. Soon afterwards they came to America, first settling in Michigan, where they resided for about six years, coming to Strawberry Point, which has been their home ever since. To this union were born seven children, six daughters and one son, one daughter dying in infancy. The remaining are: Mrs. Julia Van Meter, of Clarinda, Iowa; Mrs. Anna Brinacombe, of Anamosa; Mrs. Tenna Koelling, Mrs. Emma Bruns and Paul Warning, all of Westgate, and Miss Freda, who with her heart-broken father is home, and one brother, Chris Hagge, of Strawberry Point. Mrs. Warning was taken ill with pneumonia, Sunday, January 7th, and died Friday, January 12th, at the age of 60 years, 7 months and 23 days. Death at all times is sad, but in this case it is especially so as it came without a moments warning. A few minutes before she died she called for a drink, which was given her, and she lay back on her pillow and was soon fast asleep. Her Christian life was beautifully consistent, not only in her relationship with the church, but in her intercourse with the world, and especially in her family life. Her devotion to her family, her children and her children's children was sublimely beautiful. God grant she has gone where the sorrow and cares of the earth never penetrate. A good woman has gone to her reward. She died as she lived - a devout member of the Lutheran church, from where the funeral services were held, Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Rembold, of Lamont. He spoke both in English and German. Interment was made in our local cemetery.
