Brookshier, Ida 1868-1883

Elkader Register, Fri., 4 May 1883. Elkport Letter column.

Died- At the home of her parents in Elk township, on April 27th, Ida Brookshier; aged (looks like 15) years. Her death was caused by lung fever. Deceased was a bright and intelligent girl, was beloved by all who knew her, and will be greatly missed by her companions. The funeral occurred on the 29th ult., her remains being laid away to their final rest in the Sackett cemetery.

Note: The Sackett cemetery is aka Elk Valley, Brookshier, Elk Creek or Taylor cemetery. Elk Valley is most commonly used. Burial records give her dates as 01/01/1868-04/27/1883, age at death as 15y 3m 26d, and her parents as John & Mary Brookshier.
