Dubuque Telegraph Herald, January 7, 1957

Elkader, Ia. – Services for Fred W. Steen, 66, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Peace Evangelical and Reformed Church here, with the Rev. Paul Kitterer officiating.

Mr. Steen died Wednesday at his home here. He was born May 14, 1890, near Elkader, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Steen. He married Freda Kaja at Strawberry Point Jan. 2, 1923. The couple farmed for a time and for the last 27 years lived in Elkader.

Survivors are his wife; a son, LaMar of Denver; two brothers, Jake of Elkader, and William of Strawberry Point, and two sisters, Mrs. Warren Hughes and Mrs. Fred Henning of Elkader.

The Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
