Elkader Register, Fri., 13 April 1883. Elkport Letter column.

Died - On April 6th, 1883, of consumption, John Peters, of this township, aged 59 years. He leaves a wife and several children to mourn the loss of a loving husband and kind and affectionate father. The funeral occurred on the 9th inst., his remains being laid away to their final rest in the Lutheran cemetery at this place.
