Elkader Register, Fri., 30 Mar. 1883. Elkport Letter column.
On the 26th inst., at the home of his parents in this township, occurred the death of Wm. Blanchaine, at the age of twenty years, after having suffered with consumption for the past year. For five months he was confined to his bed, and suffered greatly before death came to his relief. William was an honest intelligent young man, one who was beloved by all with whom he had dealings, and his death will be greatly mourned by a large circle of friends. The funeral occurred on Wednesday, Rev. P. Dornseif officiating, and was largely attended. After an impressive service his remains were laid away to their final rest in the cemetery near the residence of his parents. The afflicted family will have the heartfelt sympathy of all.
