Norma J. Olson, 73, of St. Olaf, died Thursday, May 28, 2015, at the Elkader Care Center. She was born February 15, 1942, in Spencer, to Albert and Lucy (Needham) Geno. Norma attended school in Elkader, where she graduated with the Class of 1960.

She was united in marriage to Leland Olson on June 17, 1961, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elkader. Three children were born to the couple.

Norma was a farm wife, working with Leland as she could. Over the years, she worked at Johnson’s Supper Club in Elkader, Monona Wire, Wal Mart in Prairie du Chien and Moore’s in Monona. She was a faithful member of Norway Lutheran Church. Norma enjoyed bowling and especially attending children and grandchildren sporting events and school activities. She felt that she was fortunate in being able to see her great-grandchildren’s activities. Family and friends were very important to her.

Survivors include her children, Tim (Sandy Caya) Olson of St. Olaf, Tammy (Bob) Scherf of St. Olaf, Todd (Kim Hostert) Olson of Luana; five grandchildren, James (Molly) Scherf, Tarah (Derek) Bentien, Mallory (Bill) Kuhse, Seth Olson, Missy Olson; eight great-grandchildren, Delaney Scherf, Ashlyn Scherf, Blair Scherf, Carver Blietz-Bentien, Briar Bentien, Brantley Bentien, Reese Kuhse, Riley Kuhse, many special nieces, nephews and friends.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Leland in 2008; two sisters, Alberta French and a baby that died in infancy; one brother, Bob Geno and one sister-in-law, Pat Geno.
