Elkader Register, Thur., 17 Dec. 1903. McGregor column.
News was received here Thursday of the death of John Fisher at St. Paul. It will be remembered that this man has been around town, Ill and friendless, for the past six months. Several weeks ago he made an unsuccessful attempt at suicide, but was found before too far gone, in the cemetery. The cause of death was given as heart failure. The remains were brought here for burial, Rev. D. C. Dutton officiating at the funeral, which was attended by two of his daughters and their husbands from St. Paul, and a large number of Odd Fellows.
