Elkader Register, Thur., 17 Dec. 1903. Elkport and Vicinity column.

Died, at the home of her son, Wm. T. Schnack, of Volga twp., Thursday evening, Dec. 10th, 1903, Catherine Schnack, aged 66 years. Mrs. Schnack was born in Scheswig, Holstein, Germany, in the year 1836. At the age of fourteen years, being left an orphan, she, in company with friends emigrated to America and settled in Clayton county, Iowa, where at the age of 20 years she was married to Detlof Schnack. From Clayton county they moved to Nebraska where they lived four years. From Nebraska they moved to Elkport where in 1890* her husband died and where deceased has since resided. The deceased was a kind and noble woman. She leaves five grown sons to mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother and advisor. The funeral took place Sunday, Rev. Hertel officiating. May she rest in peace.
