Clayton County Register, Wed., 19 Feb. 1936.

Strawberry Point: Funeral services for Bailey Childers of Kingfisher, Okla., were held Thursday afternoon at the Gill funeral chapel conducted by the Methodist pastor, the Rev. James P. Gable. Burial was made in the Strawberry Point cemetery.

Bailey Childers, son of Amos and Susanna Childers, was born in Jo Davies county, Ill., on May 5, 1847. Here his boyhood was spent and at the age of 18 he came with his uncle to Strawberry Point and made his home in this vicinity. On Oct. 25, 1875, he was married to Armon Ball of Jo Davies county, Ill., the wedding ceremony taking place in Strawberry Point. To this union one daughter, Eliza, was born. Mr. and Mrs. Childers took into their home as their own, however, a nephew and niece, Gerald and Jessie Ball, who were as close to these good people as though they were actually their own children. In 1907 the family moved to Kingfisher, Okla., which has since been the Childers' home. Mrs. Childers passed away Dec. 12, 1923, and the remains were brought back to Strawberry Point for burial. Mr. Childers, who would have been 89 years old May 5, enjoyed good health until about a week before his death. A severe cold developed into pneumonia and he passed away Monday, Feb. 10. He is survived by his daughter, Miss Eliza Childers of Kingfisher, Okla., the nephew, Gerald Ball, also of Kingfisher, Okla., and the niece, Jessie Ball, now Mrs. J. W. Miller, of Wichita, Kans., besides other relatives and many friends here.
