Strawberry Point: The death of Miss Josephine Balluff occurred Thursday morning. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church conducted by the pastor, Rev. James P. Gable. Interment was made in the County Corners cemetery.

Josephine Elizabeth Balluff, daughter of the late Victor and Mary Balluff, was born on a farm West of Strawberry Point, Nov. 8, 1874. She spent practically all her life around and near Strawberry Point. In 1902 she moved to town where she had since resided. She received her education in the Strawberry Point public school and later attended the Iowa State Teachers college at Cedar Falls and the seminary at Epworth. She taught several years in the rural schools after which she taught three years in the local public school. After serving as clerk in the local First National Bank she taught one year at Buffalo, Wyo., seven years at Eldora and one year in the Industrial School Children Village at Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. The deceased was a member of the Methodist church and an earnest and active worker in the Industrial club. For the past sixteen years she and her sister, Miss Gertrude have made a home and cared for their niece, Mary Elizabeth Sherman. Her parents and four sisters have preceded her in death. She is survived by six sisters and three brothers: Mrs. Fred (Eleanor) Everett of Lamont, Mrs. Mike (Amelia) Evert and Miss Gertrude Balluff of Strawberry Point, Mrs. Fred (Jeanette) Shields of Omaha, Nebr., Mrs. Stella Wiltse of Dundee, Mrs. John L. (Eva) Meyer of Armour, S.D., besides other relatives and friends.

Note: The newspaper neglected to list her surviving brothers given names.
