Hubert Crefeld died at his home in Clayton on Saturday evening at the close of a long, lingering illness, at an advanced age. He had been a resident of that village for many years, and is survived by his faithful companion, one son, Charles, and a daughter, Mary, who did all in their power to soothe his affliction and make his last days on earth pleasant. Funeral services occurred on Monday.- Democrat.

Herbert Crefeld died at his home here Friday evening, Dec. 11th, at eleven o'clock, the immediate cause of his death being hemorrhage of the lungs. Deceased was born in Dusseldorf, Prussia, May 8th, 1830, and in 1866 came to the United States locating at Cassville (Wis.). The following year saw him in Clayton where he made his home up to the time of his death. He was married to Mrs. Isabella Pesch June 5th, 1868, who with two children, Charles and Mary, survive him. He had been in failing health for the past three years and the last few months seldom left his bed. He was laid to rest in the Clayton cemetery Monday afternoon, Rev. Their delivering the sermon. Sympathy is extended the bereaved ones. C. J. Adam, of Elkader, P. Magruder and wife, of Waukon, L. Class and John Havil, of Bagley (Wis.) were in attendance.
