Elkader Register, Thur., 13 Aug. 1903.
Died at his home in North McGregor, Friday, Aug. 7th, 1903, Richard A. Welsh, aged 21 years and 23 days.
The deceased was born in the city of Prairie du Chien (Wis.) and when only two years of age his mother died, her husband having died two and a half years previously. Anthony Grady and wife, his uncle and aunt, then took the orphan babe to their home and under their affectionate guidance he grew to manhood, loved by all his associates.
When it became known that his illness was fatal, heartfelt sorrow reigned in the circle of which he was a member. Loving care and medical skill were of no avail, and perfectly resigned to God's will, he breathed forth his pure spirit into the hands of its Maker.
Monday morning the remains were taken to Prairie du Chien (Wis.) where funeral services were held by Rev. J. J. Joerres, and his mortal remains were consigned to rest beside his father and Mother. The esteem in which he was held was shown by the large concourse of friends which followed him to the grave.
Richard A. Welsh, or Dick, as he was familiarly called, was of a sunny, sympathetic disposition, generous to a fault, and his memory will be always cherished by all who knew him. May his soul rest in peace.
