Elkader Register, Thur., 7 May 1903. Monona column.

Johann Bernard Voss passed away at the home of his son, Ben Voss, Watson, last Monday at the age of 83 years, death being mainly to old age. Deceased was born in Bueckelty, Koenigreich Hanover, Ampt Meppen, Germany. From the fatherland he came to America and has made Clayton county his home for many years. He was one of the early settlers of Guttenberg and made his home there for about twenty years, and then removed to a farm near Cedar creek and from there moved to Watson, where he has since resided with son Ben. Surviving him are a wife and five children. The children are namely: Mrs. Louisa Blietz, Mrs. Anna Meier, Bernard, Henry and Joseph. One child died in infancy. The funeral took place yesterday morning.
