Elkader Argus, Wed., 25 Feb. 1903. Littleport column.

The old gentleman Lucy died at the home of his sons south of town on last Friday evening at the ripe old age of 82 years. He had been ailing for a long time and had become for some time past entirely helpless and while his death was looked for, it caused a feeling of sorrow among his many friends and acquaintances who had known him for many years. He was always a genial old fellow and bore his illness and suffering with the courage and fortitude that characterizes those who look beyond the "Vale of Tears" and long for rest with Him who promises a home for all "who are heavily laden" in the land beyond the skies. The Funeral was held at the Catholic church and was attended by a large concourse of friends who had gathered to pay the last respects to their friend and neighbor, and who join in expressing their sympathy to the members of the family whose home has been darkened by the angle of death.

Note: WPA records indicate this article refers to Cornelius Lucey, died 20 Feb. 1903, and is buried in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
