Died August 18th, 1890, of dropsy, Mrs. Jennett McDonald, aged 86 years. Although in failing health for some time it was a great shock to the many friends of the deceased to hear of her death.

Mr. and Mrs. McDonald emigrated to this country form Scotland in the year 1859. They landed at Guttenberg, and immediately settled on their present farm in Volga township, being highly respected and beloved citizen of our township for the past 31 years.

During their wedded life twelve children were born to them, of which seven, Alex, Irwin, James and John, of Cherokee county; and Mrs. Wm. Patrick, of Osterdock; and Mrs. Jas. Schroder, of Guttenberg and a sister in Scotland survive her.

To the aged husband we extend our sincere sympathy in the loss of his wife. He has lost a faithful help-mate, a comforter in his sorrow and a loving wife, in his decline. With the bereaved children we sympathize in their loss of a king mother, and trust that the fact that mother has gone to her reward will console them.

The funeral took place Wednesday and was very largely attended, Rev. Hansel officiating. May she rest in peace.
